= (counting unit) related to amount/ number

First we compared the similarity and the difference between 一月and 一個月, and then let the students know that 個 is a counting unit which relates to numbers/amounts.

After the introduction we used the small whiteboards to practice the months in pinyin, Chinese characters and their English meaning. We also did the game "who is the fastest?" the teacher said the word in Chinese and the students needed to raise up their whiteboards once they were done writing down the pinyin, Chinese characters and their English meaning according to what the teacher said. Whoever the first one raised the whiteboard with correct pinyin, correct Chinese characters, and correct English meaning received an extra point. After the game, we did a quiz to see how much student were able to understand the months. It came out more than 80% of both periods (5th and 6th) students were able to recognize the months in Chinese characters and their English meaning and vice versa. 6th period has more time left so we practiced the calendar package.
