Chinese Level II November 18, 2014 Tuesday

No Quiz again today! I am still learning to stop teaching and to give some time for quizzes. We had some visitors came to our class so lots of students were so quiet. We learned the following words and discussed why students don't like school. It comes conclusion: 1) students don't like school because school don't teach students the things they are supposed to know for the future, 2) students don't like school because school teach us so much more than they are supposed to learn, 3)  it is because there is too much homework, 4) because teachers like to give lectures such as broken pencils, etc. 4) students love learning just don't like schooling.
We read a story.

Chinese Level III November 12, 2014 Wednesday

Last time students wrote a story with "mai yifu" and I read all the storied students wrote and made some comments. We talked about the stories a little bit first. After the discussion on students' stories, we first reviewed the old words and then introduced the new words. After introducing the new words we paired up the students; a student with an ipad and the other with a paper which was folded into 8 boxes. (it is like small whiteboard activity but we instead of using whiteboards we used ipad and paper.) Students listened to what they heard and wrote down Chinese characters, pinyin, English meaning, and draw pictures to it. Every 4 words we switched the ipad and the paper in pairs. Later the teacher told a story and students drew pictures to what they heard and translated the story into English. At the end we did the quiz.
