Chinese Level I October 29, 2014, Wednesday

We first switched the seat. Students were given the story of Harry Potter and Hermione. We first read the story with TPRStorytelling circling questions and translation in choral response. Next students read the story individually up to 2 minutes, 1.5 minutes, 1 minutes and then 30 seconds. At the end students were asked to rewrite the story in pinyin without looking at it.

We first did the quiz and then we used TPR to review and introduced the words. We watched a powerpoint and use TPRStorytelling circling questions. 15-20 minutes before the class ended we introduced the stroke orders.We used the powerpoint to show the story and with TPRStorytelling circling questions and chorally response students comprehended the story. At the end they were asked to rewrite the story.

INFORMATION FOR TRIP TO CHINA



Chinese Level I October 24, Friday



Today we did the story about Harry Potter. We first did the quiz as the followings and then we introduced the new words. We acted out a story for three times until most of the students understand the story. Later we worked on the story through the powerpoint and TPRStorytelling circling questions. At the end students were given 10 minutes to rewrite the story in pinyin.

Chinese Level II October 24, 2014



We did the quiz but since not many students get them all write I didn't record the score. We introduced new words with PQA circling questions and then we worked on a story about Emma Stone through Powerpoint. At the end students were asked to rewrite the story.











Chinese Level III October 24, Friday



We first did the quiz on the following words. After the quiz we used PQA introduced the new words. We had fun using the new words to generate the sentences. Next we focused on the sentences on ...的; we let the students write English sentences first and then translated into English and then students translated them into Chinese. First we did examples until the students had a better idea. Later we let the students to randomly pick up five words and to teach one another.
