今天我們做第一學期期末考
Today we did the first term examination
我們先給學生十分鐘準備
Students were given 10 minutes to prepare the exam.
之後二十分鐘考試
And then we did the exam in 20 minutes.
接下來我們訂正答案
After done the exam, we corrected the paper.

學唱新歌之後
After the song,
學生用筆記型電腦或平板電腦學打這首歌的歌詞
students used laptops or ipad and learned to type the lyric of the song.
中文二和中文三的學生先學這首歌 然後讀一篇文章 再將故事打字出來
For Chinese Level II and III, we learned the song, read a story and then type the story.

十月二十六日星期五 October 26, Friday - A Day

For Chinese Level I we learned the following words.
We reviewed the words learned before and used TPR to learn the new words.
Next, we read the story and answered the questions.
And then we read another story and translated the story.
For 2nd period students they were asked to copy down the 2nd story on their notebook.
Last, we learned and sang the Chinese songs - dui bu qi wode zhongwen buhao.

For Chinese Level II and III we did the Davis School District foreign language common assessment for the first 40 minutes. After that, they either use ipads or laptop to type in the story.

十月二十五日星期四 October 25th Thursday - B Day

Today we Chinese Level I reviewed the words learned last time,
and used TPRStorytelling to act the story about Lady Gaga 喜歡藍色.
After that we used powerpoint to review the story and then students read the story aloud up to 2 min, and up to 1min 30 seconds, and up to 1 min, and last they were required to finish reading the story within 30 seconds.

十月二十四日星期三 - October 24, Wednesday - A Day

Today 2nd period we had 2 guests from China to visit our classroom; one is from GuangZhou and Xi-an; both are college professors.
For Chinese Level I students we reviewed the old words and learned the new words.
After that we acted out the story about Lady Gaga likes blue.
Next, we used the powerpoint to review the story through reading.
After the powerpoint, we did speed reading.
Last, we listened to the song, "duibuqi wode zhongwen buhao."

For Chinese Level II and III we read a story, using TPRS circling questions.
After that we read the story and worked on worksheet.

十月二十三日星期二 - October 23, Tuesday - B Day

Chinese Level I stduents we reviewed the colors and learned the following new words.
chuān

天 空= sky

衣服 = clothes

Since lots of students still are not familiar with numbers,
So we stopped what we were learning and practiced the numbers.
We used small whiteboards and practiced as pair.
                                        zhè shì duō shǎo
Partner A asked Partner B: "這是多少?" (How many is this?) while he wrote a number on the board,
Partner B answered the number in Chinese.
                                                                                                           zhè shì duō shǎo
And then Partner B wrote a number on the board and asked Partner A "這是多少?"
Partner A asnwer the number in Chinese.
Students also worked as pairs to read number 1-30 up to 5 minutes and switched partner to read again numbers 1-30 up to 5 minutes. Some students (5th period) stood up and read their numbers 1-30. Most of the 5th period students missed the number 11, 14, and 23. It's quite interesting.

Before the end of 5th period class, students stood in two lines and asked one another the questions

nǐ jǐ nián jí ?
你幾年級? = what grade are you in?
nín guì xìng ?
您貴姓? = what is your last name?

Chinese Level I stduents we reviewed the colors and learned the following new words.

Next we reviewed the sentences as the following
nǐ jǐ suì ?
你幾歲? = how old are you?
nǐ jǐ nián jí ?
你幾年級? = what grade are you in?
nín guì xìng ?
您貴姓? = what is your last name?

中文一我們今天學有關顏色的單字
Today Chinese Level I we learned the words about colors.
我們練習句型"你有什麼顏色"和"你喜歡什麼顏色?"
After that we practice the sentences with "What color do you have?" and "what color do you like?"
然後我們寫字典表格
And then we wrote a dictionary form.
接下來我們玩大風吹
After that we played "musical chairs" with color words.

After introducing the time, the class was divided as pairs.
每組學生發一張空白的有護膜的時鐘表
Each pair has a protect sheet with a clock image.
同學一在時鐘表上畫上時間
Partner A drew the time on the clock,
同學二根據同學一所畫的時間用中文說出該時間
and Partner B said the time on the clock in Chinese.
然後換同學二在時鐘表上畫上時間
And the Partner B drew the time on the clock, 
同學一根據同學一所畫的時間用中文說出該時間
And Partner A said the time on the clock in Chinese.
輪流練習直到百分之八十的學生都熟悉時間
Practice the time until at least 80% of students are familiar with the time.
接下來小考
Next we did the quiz and see how many students are familiar with the time.

今天我們中文一就讀這個故事
Today we Chinese Level I students read the following story.
學生們先抄寫黑板上的故
First, students copied down the story on the board.
然後我們用TPRS的循環問題問學
Then we used TPRS's cycling questions to ask students.
接下來學生跟著老師一起讀也一起
Next, the students read aloud and question aloud along with the teacher.
讀完之後我們做速
After that, we did speed reading.
目標是學生可以在40秒內讀完這個故事
The goals is to 90% of students are able to finish reading the story within 40 seconds.
我們先以2分鐘開始學生讀到時間到
First we practiced reading within 2 minutes
然後一分半鐘 接下來一分鐘
And then one and half minutes; next, 1 minutes
最後四十秒
And the last, 40 seconds
做完速讀之後 我們玩賓果遊戲
After the speed reading we played the bingo game.

We played "clapping game with color words" and "musical chair with color words.
