Chinese Level III August 27, Thursday , 2015 B Day

Today we did a much better job; students were more comfortable and confident than last time. Students came in and be seated at the bell. 1st thing they did is to copy down the words on the board.
We used TPR to introduce the words and played charade games from the teacher against students and from students against students. Afterwards, the teacher read a story aloud and students tried to figure out how much they understood. we used TPRStorytelling circling questions to check the comprehension. Later we read the following story. Again we used circling questions to check the reading comprehension.

For Chinese Level I 4th period students, students came in and we did traditional Chinese classroom manner that students stood up and bowed to the teacher; the teacher bowed back. After the manner students were asked to copy down the terms on the board as the followings. We introduced the terms with TPR and PQA. Then we did the time-speaking and whiteboard activity and at the end we sang the "你好歌“ with the rhyme "Marry has a little lamb."

Chinese Level I 7th period August 25, Tuesday B Day

We used TPR to introduce the following words; helping students to introduce themselves in Chinese with 我叫....。 We made a name card; introduced ourselves in Chinese; played bingo. At the last 25 minutes we introduced the disclosure. We just barely started to play bingo game not done yet.
Today 7th period students seemed a little more 'social' than 4th period students but most of them did a good job; just only a couple of students liked to translate into English and said it aloud which was against our 100% Chinese policy. Other than that we were doing great.
()(jiào)  I am called

()(jiào)you are called

(shén)(me) what?

Chinese Level III August 25, Tuesday B Day

We first did the game named "Necklace" (Please click the "necklace" to access the questions) to review the content we learned before. Unfortunately students forgot lots and struggled with the questions as the attached link.

We had the students read the article "Taylor Lautner 不要哭了" without pinyin at all. Students tried their best to recognize the Chinese characters.

We also worked on the powerpoint named Taylor Lautner 不要哭了 (pleae click the "Taylor Lautner 不要哭了" to access the powerpoint) with TPRStorytelling circling questions.

At the last 25 minutes we introduced the disclosure.
