一月十七日星期四 January 17, Thursday - A Day

Today we first reviewed the old words 今天 明天 昨天 每天 幾月幾日 every student was asked 今天幾月幾號?or 昨天幾月幾號?or 明天幾月幾號? After that we introduced new words as the followings:
白貓bái māo = white cat

每個人měi gè rén = everyone

We practiced the distinguish between 美國人 and 每個人. After making sure every student was able to tell the differences between them, we started to read a story. First the teacher read aloud and the students voluntarily to translate the story to English sentence by sentence. Next students were asked to find a partner to work on the questions about the story. More than 80% of students claimed these questions were easy to answer. We did informal assessment that students gave the teacher fingers to present how easy the story and questions are. For 1st period there were 4 students out 26 claimed 2-3 while others claimed 4.5-5.
