二月六日星期三 - February 6, Wednesday - A Day

FOR CHINESE LEVEL II & III ABSENT STUDENTS - Please copy down the words we learned in class on your notebook and then show the teacher when you come in.

Today we first reviewed all the animals words with TPR and then quickly introduced the new words as the followings. After the new words introduction, we used small whiteboards to practice the old and new words. Next, we watched a POWERPOINT and students involved in guessing what animal it is. The last 15 minutes we played charades. Click the POWERPOINT so you can play and guess by yourself.

爬到 = climb/crawl to
tiào xià
跳下 = jump down

Today Chinese Level II & III we learned the following idioms about the twelve animals of the Chinese New Year. First we introduced the idioms and then we discussed if there's any English meaning that fix in, and what situation we would used these idioms. Next we practiced these idioms with small whiteboards. At the end we did a very comprehension check and see how many students understand these idioms.

dǎn xiǎo rú shǔ
膽小如鼠 = as timid as a mouse
jiǔ   niú yī máo
九牛一毛 = a drop in the ocean
qí      hǔ nán xià
騎虎難下 = on the horns of a delimma
shǒu zhū dài tù 
守株待兔 = just sit back and wait
wàng zǐ chéng lóng
望子成  龍 = hopefully. (Hope your son/child to be successful in everything or to be outstanding)
dǎ  cǎo jīng shé
打草驚蛇 = do something to A but it gives alert to B
qīng méi zhú mǎ 
青梅竹馬 = best friends since young kids
yáng rù hǔ kǒu 
羊入虎口 = in a very dangerous situation 
jiān zuǐ hóu sāi 
尖嘴猴腮 = ugly in appearance (in a bad mean)
jī máo suàn pí 
雞毛蒜皮 = triviality; not a deal at all
hú péng gǒu yǒu 
狐朋狗友 = bad friends; evil associates 
zhū gǒu bù rú 
豬狗不如 = worse than a pig and a dog
