三月二十五日星期一 - March 25, Monday - A Day

FOR CHINESE LEVEL II & III ABSENT STUDENTS - 1) Copy down the words onto your notes and show the teacher your notes when you come back, 2) come at advisory time, lunch time, or after school before 4pm and take a quiz for today's word when you come back to school.

FOR CHINESE LEVEL I ABSENT STUDENTS - 1) Copy down the words onto your notes and show the teacher your notes when you come back,

For Chinese Level I students, we learned 4 words today -
老師 lǎo shī= teacher
學生 xué shēng = student
星期xīng qī  = week/weekday
星期幾? xīng qī jǐ= what day?

We first used TPR to introduced the words, and then we played "Ribbon game" to practice the words. The teacher shook the first person of each row and asked 什麼是老師shen me shì lǎo shī ? and the person answered "teacher"; and then the person shook the hand of 2nd person of the row and asked 什麼是老師shen me shì lǎo shī ? And the person answered "teacher"; the 2nd person shook the hand of the 3rd person of the row and asked....Continue the step until the last person of the row answer the question. And the last person of the row has to run to the teacher and ask the teacher 什麼是老師shen me shì lǎo shī ?. The 1st one who runs to the teacher and asks the question receives 2 points for their row; other rows who are not the fastest one will receive 1 pt for their rows.

and the small whiteboards as well. Of course we used sentences to familiar with these words like..
什麼是學生shen me shì xué shēng? = What is " 學生xué shēng"?
什麼是星期 shen me shì xīng qī ?= What is "星期xīng qī "?
今天是星期幾jīn tiān shì xīng qī jǐ ? = What day is today?
昨天是星期幾zuó tiān shì xīng qī jǐ = What day is yesterday?
明天是星期幾míng tiān shì xīng qī jǐ = What day is tomorrow?
Mrs. Duke是老師還是學生shì lǎo shī hái shì xué shēng? = Mrs. Duke is a teacher or a student?
Ms. Weaver是老師還是學生shì lǎo shī hái shì xué shēng? = Ms. Weaver is a teacher or a student?
Jori是老師還是學生 shì lǎo shī hái shì xué shēng ? = Jori is a teacher or a student?



The words we learned for Chinese Level II & III are the followings:
開車 kāi chē  = to drive
zǎi = to give a ride/ capacity
中學zhōng xué  = middle school
qián= before/in front of/ahead/in advance
博物館bó wù guǎn  = museum
怎麼走?zěn me zǒu ?= how to get there
去...怎麼走?qù ...zěn me zǒu ?  = how to get to ......

First we used TPRS to introduced the new words and then we played "Robbin Game". The teacher shook the first person of each row and asked 開車的英文怎麼說 kāi chē de yīng wén zěn me shuō? and the person answered "to drive"; and then the person shook the hand of the 2nd person of the row and asked 開車的英文怎麼說kāi chē de yīng wén zěn me shuō? and the person answered "to drive"; the 2nd person shook the 3rd person of the row and asked....Continue the step until the last person of the row answer the question. And then the last person of the row has to run to the teacher and ask the teacher 開車的英文怎麼說kāi chē de yīng wén zěn me shuō? The 1st one who runs to the teacher and asks the question receives two points for their row; other rows who are not the fastest one still come to the teacher and asks her the question to receive 1 pt for their row. We continued the game with different words like
 載zǎi 的英文怎麼說 de yīng wén zěn me shuō?
中學zhōng xué的英文怎麼說de yīng wén zěn me shuō?
qián的英文怎麼說de yīng wén zěn me shuō?
博物館bó wù guǎn的英文怎麼說de yīng wén zěn me shuō?
怎麼走zěn me zǒu的英文怎麼說de yīng wén zěn me shuō ?




And then we used questions like ..
The teacher asked the 1st person the question - 恐龍博物館怎麼走? kǒng lóng bó wù guǎn zěn me zǒu ? And the 2nd person answered the question; next the person asked the 3rd person the same question....After we practiced all the words and sentences, we did a quick quiz with these six words.

Next we acted out a story about Jet Li. --


After we acted out the story, we asked TPR circling questions, and of course, we also used the "Ribbon game" again to let everyone have the chance to practice speaking about the story.
