三月十八日星期一 March 18, Monday - A Day

FOR CHINESE LEVEL I ABSENT STUDENTS - #1, Please copy down the following reviewed words with pinyin onto your notes and show the teacher your notes when you come back,

FOR CHINESE LEVEL II and III ABSENT STUDENTS - #1, please copy down the words that students presented onto your notebook and show the teacher your notes when you come back. #2, please create a story with your 5 words presented in class in 200 words.

Today we didn't go for new words as not at least 80% of students are able to recognize 80% of these 30 words. We first quickly went through all the words and then used small whiteboard activity to practice them. Instead of using small whiteboards, we made some flashcards (2nd period) and played "who is fastest?" game. Group students of 3 and then had each students make 8 flashcards with the reviewed words; each student in the group had to have different words, couldn't repeat the same words. After the flashcards are done students played " who is the fastest?" - the teacher said a word in Chinese, student in the group who is the fastest one to find the word flashcard and places his/her hand on the card and shows the teacher and receive an extra point.  For period 1 we used a ball tossing game and small whiteboards to review the words.

tóu = head
頭髮tóu fà = hair
眼睛yǎn jīng = eyes
鼻子bí zǐ = nose
嘴巴zuǐ bā = mouth
耳朵ěr duǒ = ear
失蹤shī zōng = got lost/ disappeared
不見了bù jiàn le = disappeared/ out of sight

走失了zǒu shī le  = got lost
尋找xún zhǎo = look for
尋找啟示xún zhǎo qǐ shì  = missing poster
bang = pounds
多重?duō zhòng = how heavy?
體重tǐ zhòng = weight
chǐ = foot/feet
cun = inch
多高?duō gāo = how tall?
身高shēn gāo = height
性別xìng bié = gender
姓名xìng míng = full name
穿chuān = wear/put on
年齡nián líng = age
上衣shàng yī = top/shirt
褲子kù zǐ = pants
特徵tè zhēng = characteristic/feature


CHINESE LEVEL II and III
My son was sick so I went home earlier and had a sub to sub my 3rd period.
Students were doing the following activities:
#1, Jade M. and Ashley R. did the presentation, Kendall H. did the presentation.
#2, After the presentation students were asked to write a story with their words with 16 pictures and 16 sentences.
健身jiàn shēn  = body building
看書kàn shū  = read a book
開車kāi chē = drive
寫作xiě zuò = write
剪紙jiǎn zhǐ = cut paper

Objectives:

1) create a story with the words you presented/prepared with 200 words
2) able to use conjunction words such as
當....的時候dāng ....de shí hòu = when
因為yīn wéi  = because
所以suǒ yǐ = so
首先shǒu xiān = first
接下來jiē xià lái  = next
然後rán hòu  = and then
最後zuì hòu = finally
突然tū rán = suddenly

Requirements:
1) Correct Grammar/no grammar errors
2) Only use the words learned/NO NEW WORDS from the dictionary
3) Fluent in writing
4) Consequent/Logic
