十月十六日星期三 October 16, Wednesday - A Day

For Chinese Level I students, we learned the following words...

(nín)(guì)(xìng) = what is your (noble) last name?

()(xìng) = My (humble) last name is...

() = I

()(de) = my/mine

After we introduced the words and reviewed the words taught last time as the followings.

() = you

()(de) = your/yours

()(hǎo) = hello

(xìng) = last name

(míng)() = first name

Students were asked to make up 4 fake last names. First, they asked themselves with (nín)(guì)(xìng)and answer themselves with ()(xìng) up to one minutes. And then they worked as pairs; Partner A asked the question and Partner B answer it with the 8 fake last names they made. Next, we switched the partner; Partner B asked while Partner A answered. Later, we grouped students of 3. They took turn as the dealer and recorder. The dealer said the words in Chinese while the other two competed to say the words in English and see who was faster and received the point (time 1 minute). And then 2nd person in the group be the dealer, and the 3rd be the dealer. After all the students in the group hade been the dealer once, we played again but this time the dealer had to say it in English while other two students in the group said it in Chinese (time 1 minute each time) until each member had his/her turn being a dealer. We also read a story with powerpoint with TPRStorytelling circling questions.
(yǒu)()()(nán)(hái)()(de)(míng)()(jiào)Larry Potter.
()(kàn)(dào)()()()(hái)
Larry Potter (shuō)()(hǎo)(nín)(guì)(xìng)

For Chinese Level II & III students, we learned the following words after we reviewed the words learned last time.

()(shī) = wizard

()() = witch

()(guā) = muggle

(kàn)(guò) = have seen

We read the article with TPRStorytelling circling questions after we reviewed. Students were asked to fold a piece of paper into 12 boxes. And they needed to make 12 sentences with the words on the board (including the words learned last time) on a piece of paper. Each word a box and on the back of the box they needed to draw pictures to present the sentence. (No translation for both sides)
After that we did the quiz. Click the article to access the reading story.
