十二月十七日星期一 - December 27, Monday - A Day

Today Chinese Level I we started to learn countries.

中國zhōng guó = China *
美國měi guó = America*
英國yīng guó = England/Britain*
法國fǎ guó = France*
德國dé guó = Germany*
加拿大jiā ná dà = Canada*
墨西哥mò xī gē = Mexico*
澳大利亞ào dà lì yà = Australia*
荷蘭hé lán = Dutch
日本rì běn = Japan
薩爾瓦多sà ěr wǎ duō  El Salvador
義大利yì dà lì = Italy
非洲fēi zhōu = Africa
哪國人?nǎ guó rén ? = Which nationality?/Which country people?
rén = people/person
中國人zhōng guórén = Chinese*
美國人měi guórén = American*
英國人yīng guó rén= Englishman/British *
法國人fǎ guórén = French (people)*
德國人dé guórén = German*
加拿大人jiā ná dàrén = Canadian*
墨西哥人mò xī gērén = Mexican*
澳大利亞人ào dà lì yàrén = Australian*
荷蘭人hé lánv = Dutch
日本人rì běn rén= Japanese
薩爾瓦多人sà ěr wǎ duō rén = El Salvador (people)
義大利人yì dà lì rén= Italian
非洲人fēi zhōu rén = African
跳到...上tiào dào ...shàng = jump ont...*
一隻貓yī zhī māo = a cat*
* = the target word. Other than * are the words students in class ask and would like to know. 


Instead of using whiteboard activity, each student received a piece of paper and folded it into 8 equal squares. Students wrote down Chinese numbers at each corner of the squares from 一 to十六. In each box students were asked to write down the words they heard in pinyin, Chinese characters, English meaning, and draw a picture to the meaning. For 1st period, we only did 8 words and then we watched the video about Santa's nationality. For 2nd period, we did about 14 words and then we traced Chinese characters. 

For Chinese Level II and III, we learned the following words....
怎麼數也數不完zěn me shù yě shù bù wán = too many to count
告訴大家gào sù dà jiā = tell everybody
笑嘻嘻xiào xī xī = laugh (with hehehe sound)
笑哈哈xiào hā hā = laugh (with hahaha sound)
Of course, we reviewed the old words like
灰狼huī láng = gray wolf
走進 zǒu jìn = walk into/ enter
午睡  wǔ shuì  = nap
睡午覺shuì wǔ jiào = take a nap
運氣  yùn qì = luck
怎麼這麼好zěn me zhè me hǎo = incredibly good
 pà = fear, (be) scared, (be) afraid
害怕 hài pà = = fear, (be) scared
恐怕 kǒng pà = (be) afraid
 chǎo = noisy, bother
吵醒 chǎo xǐng = wake up by noise
小聲地xiǎo shēng dì = whisper, quietly
