Welcome back!! First day of school after the winter break!! Yaaa!! We had few announcements about the coming activites; #1, we're going to have a field trip to Asian Imperial to celebrate Chinese New Year on Jan. 24 or 25. #2,Chinese program at Weber State University invited our Chinese students to participate and attend the Chinese New Year Celebration Event on January 27, #3, we are going to cook a Chinese New Year Dish in Feb. in the cooking classroom.  This week we are going to learn some words on Chinese Zodiac.
1st and 2nd period students learned the following words:
hěn jiǔ = very long

We used PQA (personal questions and answer) to learn the words and small whiteboards to practice them. We also played bingo games to practice/review the words. Many students were able to answer the questions nǐ shōu dào shén me lǐ wù ?/ nǐ shǔ shén me ? = What Zodiac are you? in Chinese. Students were asked to walk around the classroom with the Chinese New Year song (sang by Mrs. Duke) and stopped and found a partner to ask the 3 questions learned when the song stopped.
For 3rd period students, we learned the following words -
dòng wù = animals
shí 二èr = 12
