We worked on the story about the Beth again with TPRStorytelling until students are able to retell the story.

We didn't learned the new words but we quickly reviewed the old words. We read the story as a whole class. We used TPRStorytelling circling questions to practice listening and speaking. The teacher read the story sentence by sentence aloud while students translated chorally. Later the teacher told the story in English while the students said it in Chinese. Students were paired up to do TPRStorytelling circling questions themselves. Students A stated a fact, and asked Student B a question about the statement/fact. Student B answered the question. Student A repeated the statement/fact. Each fact has to be questioned with four different questioning such as yes/no question, either..or...question, why? where? what? who? etc.
Later students were given 10 minutest to prepare to act out the story. And then each pair of students came up and acted out their story.

二月十一& 十二 日星期二& 三 Feb 11 & 12 Tuesday & Wednesday 中文 二& 三 Chinese Level II & III
We reviewed the old words, learned the new words, used PQA and whiteboard to practice these words. We worked on the story on the textbook. First, we did chorally translation as a whole group from Chinese to English and then from English to Chinese. Later, students read a story as groups of 3 and draw 4 pictures about what they read to present their comprehension. We used TPRStorytelling circling questions to practice listening and speaking. And then students worked as pairs to ask TPRStorytelling circling questions to one another. Next, students were asked to retell the story. At the end of class students were asked to rewrite the story on a piece of paper.

下班 = off work
回家 = return home/get home
大聲地 = loudly/aloud
訓 = scold
多吃 = eat more, eat lots of ..

These two days we are celebrating Chinese New Year by making Chinese New Year cards in class. I will post online later about student's work.
Students are supposed to make a Chinese New Year card for their favorite teacher.

二月四 日星期二 Feb 4 Monday 中文 一 Chinese Level I
We learned the new words on
一瓶水 = a bottle of water
倒在 = pour on
猴子 = monkey
胖 = fat
瘦 = skinny
身上都是 = ...all over the body

After we taught these words with TPR/ASL, the teacher first acted out and said the story and students listened first. And then the teacher acted out and said the story in Chinese while students chorally translated into English. Later the teacher acted out the story while the students said the story in Chinese.
Next we worked on reading the story on the page 49 of the textbook. We first chorally read aloud and then the teacher said it in Chinese while students said it in English. Later the teacher used TPRStoryingtelling circling questions for the student's choral response. And then we did the individual questionings.
Next, students read aloud up to 2 minutes first and then the students were asked to read the story up to 2 minutes to their partner and took turn. After that the students were asked to retell the story for 1 minute and then took turn in pairs. Next, students were to draw 4 pictures to present their comprehension. When they were done their picture drawings, they retold the story to their partner according to the pictures.
