Chinese Level I October 23, 2014

We first did the quiz as usual and then we did the PQA with new words. Since some students in this class liked to give negative response to the questions in Chinese, we had fun.
For example,
I asked a student with gěidehǎoma
and the students would say hǎo
Once they said hǎo
I would acted out mad and say, DukelǎoshīhěnshēngDukelǎoshījiǎndāojiǎndetóuhǎoma

the students would sayhǎo
or I would say DukelǎoshīhěnshēngDukezhuāpíngshuǐdǎozàidetóushànghǎoma
the students would sayhǎo

We had fun time yesterday. We acted out the story as the following but didn't finish it.

Chinese Level I October 20, Monday

We first did the quiz. Students needed to write 5 out of these 16 words to be familiar. After the quiz, they copied down the new words. We introduced the new words with TPR. After students were familiar with these words with the gestures, we then did the whiteboard activity, played a couple of times of bingo game. And then we played "stand-up" game. After the "stand-up" game, we made flashcards.

We did the quiz on Halloween but the students shared that they didn't work well on them, so I didn't record the score. Students chose 7 words to work on. We practiced on the small whiteboards first individually for 5 minutes, in pairs for 5 minutes and in group of 3 for another 5 minutes. Then we read a story through powerpoint. We worked on TPRStorytelling Circling questions.
We had three new words. At the end, students were asked to rewrite the story. After the rewrite they read the story to their partner.
