二月二十五日星期一 February 25, Monday - A Day

FOR CHINESE LEVEL I, II, and III ABSENT STUDENTS - #1, Copy down the words onto your notebook and then show the teacher when you come back.


Basically Our routine in the class every day is
#1, copy down the words on the board onto your notebook
#2, calendar introduction
#3, Review the old words and/or stories
#4, Introduce new words and/or stories
#5, TPRS time + activities/games
#6, Reading


Words need to copy down in Chinese characters are -
為什麼wéi shen me? = why?
因為.yīn wéi  = because
可是kě shì ...= but

Students were asked to copy down the reviewed words in pinyin first, and then we discussed their English meaning. Next we used small whiteboards to practice the words by sentences and a story. We also used TPR circling questions to do the sentences with words.

We continued to the package/story learned last time we did; next we did the speed-reading the Fat Pink Pig story that students are able to finish reading the story in 1 minute. There were 4 Level II & III students to do the speed reading presentation and they are Jose, Maddie, Becca, and Alex.

二月二十二是星期五 February 22, Friday - B Day

Today we first reviewed the words and added  some new word -

We worked on the Fat Pink Pig story; (Please click the the Fat Pink Pig story to download the story). First we translated students as a whole class and then individually translated it again. Later we used TPRS circling questions to practice listening and speaking, and comprehension check. After the circling questions, students then worked in pairs and then we discussed the answers.

HOMEWORK - READ THE PINK FAT PIG STORY TO YOUR PARENTS 5 TIMES and have them sign on the story and turn it in by next Tuesday Feb. 25.


FOR CHINESE LEVEL II & III ABSENT STUDENTS - #1, Download the story we learned  and then complete the package. Turn it in when you come back, #3, Watch the video and be familiar with the story.


For Chinese Level I students, today we first reviewed the words and added a new word -

Later we worked on the package about The Fat Pink Pig Story as pairs and answered the questions to the story.

For Chinese Level II & III students, since the teacher had a doctor appointment during the class so we had a sub for period 3. Students were asked to work on a package about Fat Pink Pig Story; different from Chinese Level I students Level II & III students worked on fill-in the blank to create their own story. After they've done their translation, answering the questions to the story, and filling in the blank, they also worked on creating a story on their own.

Today we first did the calendar first, and then introduced the new words. Next we used PQA questioning to know who have 爬樹pá shù before and who haven't. After that we used small whiteboards to practice the words. First we practiced them with English meanings on the board; later we practiced them without. At the end of the small whiteboard activity we did a quick 5-word assessment on the board and all the students got five out five right.

At the end, students copied down the story and did the timed- reading up to 2 minutes, 1 minutes 30 seconds, 1 minute, and 30 seconds. Our goal is every student is able to read the story in 30 seconds.
