February 27, Monday ---二月二十七日星期一 - B

For 8th period, We reviewed the story the students read when the sub were here. Students were asked to act out the story and read the story to their partners. We also learned new words: 大(dà) 學(xué) = college 小(xiǎo) 學(xué) = elementary 高(gāo) 中(zhòng) = high school 初(chū) 中(zhōng) = junior high school 以(yǐ) 前(qián) = before, ago, in the past 以(yǐ) 後(hòu) = afterwards, in the future At the end of class we listened to the song about "對duì 不bù 起qǐ 我wǒ 的de 中zhōng 文wén 不bù 好hǎo".

February 24, Wednesday -二月二十二日星期五- A

We had a sub, Mr. Brough, today due to a 3-day workshop at Tampa Bay FL for Confucius Classroom.
Students were asked to do the following things.
#1, create 10 sentences with the words in the dictionary form.
#2, read a story about fat monkey and skinny monkey and translate the story to English and draw pictures to the sentence tranlsated in the story form.
Please clicke the fles/pictures to access the files to work on if you were absent on these days. Chinese Level III students are expected to read the story with more Chinese characters without pinyin.

We had a sub, Mr. Brough, today due to a 3-day workshop at Tampa Bay FL for Confucius Classroom.
Students were asked to do the following things.
#1, create 10 sentences with the words in the dictionary form.
#2, read a story about fat monkey and skinny monkey and translate the story to English and draw pictures to the sentence tranlsated in the story form.

February 22, Wednesday -二月二十二日星期三 - A

1st, 2nd, and 3rd period students started to learn the words and the story that 8th period students learned for the last two days.
Today we learned the following words -
滑huá 板bǎn = skateboard
溜liū 滑huá 板bǎn = ride skateboard
滑huá 滑huá 板bǎn = ride skateboard
調tiáo 皮pí = not behaved; misbehaved
學xué 校xiào = school
學xué 生shēng = student
屋wū 頂dǐng = roof
會huì = can (be able to); will (be going to)
不bú 會huì = cannot (unable to); won't (not going to)
有yǒu = have/has; there's/there are
沒méi 有yǒu = don't have/doesn't have; there isn't/there aren't
可kě 是shì = but

Our objectives are 80% of students are able to recognize the 60% of the words we taught. We first used ASL to learn the words, and then use PQA questions such as 你nǐ 有yǒu 沒méi 有yǒu 滑huá 板bǎn ? = Do you have skateboard?
你nǐ 會huì 不bú 會huì 溜liū 滑huá 板bǎn ? = Do you know how to ride skateboard?
誰shéi 有yǒu 滑huá 板bǎn ? = Who has a skateboard?
誰shéi 會huì 溜liū 滑huá 板bǎn ? = who knows how to ride skateboard?

We also told a story about 馬mǎ 克kè 老lǎo 師shī
馬mǎ 克kè 老lǎo 師shī 會huì 溜liū 滑huá 板bǎn:Mr. Mark knows how to ride skateboard.
馬mǎ 克kè 老lǎo 師shī 很hěn 調tiáo 皮pí = Mr.Mark was not behaved.
他tā 是shì 一yī 個gè 很hěn 調tiáo 皮pí 的de 學xué 生shēng = He was a misbehaved student.
一yī 天tiān ,馬mǎ 克kè 老lǎo 師shī 拿ná 他tā 的de 滑huá 板bǎn 去qù 學xué 校xiào
= One day, Mr.Mark took his skateboard to school
他tā 爬pá 到dào 學xué 校xiào 的de 屋wū 頂dǐng
= he climbed to the school's roof.

= He was skateboarding on the roof of the school.

Today we reviewed the words and the story we learned 5 days ago. And then we learned few new words.
結(jiē) 果(guǒ) = as a result
以(yǐ) 前(qián) = before, in the past
....的(de) 時(shí) 候(hòu) = when..., at the moment of...

The words we reviewed --

Periods 1, 2, & 3: Along with finished up the Chinese New Years Unit we took our unit ending quiz. Afterwards we talked about a personal narration of a boy skateboarding. 3rd period finished up their New Years dragons.
