Chinese Level II and III learned the following words -
市shì 區qū = downtown
公gōng 共gòng 汽qì 車chē = bus
附fù 近jìn = nearby
銀yín 行háng = bank
郵yóu 局jú = post office
聽tīng 說shuō = people said...
離lí ...遠yuǎn 一yī 點diǎn = leave...alone (away)
離lí ...有yǒu 一yī 點diǎn 遠yuǎn = a little bit far from....
First we did the calendar introduction. I filmed the students of the 1st period; Tucker, Simran,
Thomas, and Cody. After that, we reviewed the words taught last time .
社shè 區qū = community, , neighborhood
太tài 鬧nào 了le = too annoying, too loud, too bustling
太tài 吵chǎo 了le = too noisy, too loud
安ān 靜jìng = quiet, silent
安ān 全quán = safe, secure
方fāng 便biàn = convenient, available
不bú 錯cuò = not bad, nice, good
For 1st and periods students, after reviewing the words taught last time, we introduced the new words and then practiced them with whiteboards. Next each student recieved a short converstation with the words taught last time. We used TPRStory questioning cycles on the converstaion and later students were asked to translate it. After we've done the translation, we watched a DVD named Children of Hungzhou,we discussed about it.
For 3rd period students, there were six students doing the calendar introduction; Eric, McCoy, Benthany, Luis, Austin, and Payton. After that we introduced the new words.
牙yá 齒chǐ = tooth/teeth
刷shuā 子zǐ = brush (noun)
刷shuā = brush (verb)
牙yá 刷shuā = tooth brush
刷shuā 牙yá = brush teeth
早zǎo 上shàng = in the morning
睡shuì 覺jiào 前qián = before sleep
吃chī 飯fàn 後hòu = after meals
起qǐ 床chuáng = get up
We qucikly reviewed some of the words taught last time.
身shēn 體tǐ = body
身shēn 上shàng = on the body
都dōu 是shì = both, all, all over
水shuǐ = water
睡shuì 覺jiào = sleep
打dǎ 呼hū 嚕lū = snore
把bǎ ...倒dào 在zài ...= pour.. on
身shēn 上shàng 都dōu 是shì 水shuǐ= water all over the body.
After the calendar and the new words, we did 'dictionary form'. After the dictionary form, we played a game that each table was assigned one word, and they were asked to use the word assigned to create a sentence in one minute. After one minute they passed their paper to the next table and create another sentence with the same word, and repeat the stp until each table received their own paper back.
