元月六&七日 January 6 & 7 中文 一 Chinese Level I

We reviewed the words we learned quickly with the package. We first explained the English meaning. For 7th period students they worked as group of 4 first to figure out the English meaning for the 1st page. After 5 minute discussion, each of group members is assigned a number (such as 1,2,3,4). all the students whose  Number is 1 got together and discuss their answers. We repeated the process until all the pages done. Later we played bingo games. Students write down the words and say the sentence.

元月六&七日 January 6 & 7 中文二 & 三 Chinese Level II & III

On January 6, we reviewed the words with TPR circling questions. We learned only few new words. We used PQA & TPR circling questions to practice these words. Students were given a sheet of occupation and spent about 15 minutes to color these pics to help them remember the features of the occupation to the words. We also talked about what job they would like to be in the future.
We turned in the flashcards that we made last time.

For example, Anna 以後想要當科學家,Kai以後想要當律師。
Anna 以後想要當科學家嗎?
Kai以後想要當科學家嗎?
Anna 還是Kai以後想要當科學家?
誰以後想要當科學家?
Anna 以後想要當律師嗎?
Kai以後想要當律師嗎?
Anna 還是Kai以後想要當律師?
誰以後想要當律師?
Anna 以後想要當律師還是科學家?
Anna 以後想要當什麽?
Kai 以後想要當律師還是科學家?
Kai以後想要當什麽?

()(hòu) = in the future

(xiǎng)(yào) = want to

(dāng) = to be/to become

元月二 & 三日 January 2 & 3 - 中文二& 三 Chinese II & III

On January 2nd, 2014,  we reviewed the words we learned before the winter break. Instead of giving students the occupation in Chinese, I asked the students for the occupation they would like to learn. These were the words they gave me. Yup, these were the words that 2nd period students gave to me. I was not sure if they would like to be the physicist, engineer, architect, and archaeologist or they just wanted to test my English how to spell these words. :)) We did some flashcards and play a bingo game that students had to make sentences with the words they would like to cross out.

()()()()(xué)() Nuclear physicist

()()(gōng)(chéng)(shī) Civil Engineer

(jiàn)(zhù)(shī) Architect

(kǎo)()(xué)() Archaeologist
On January 3rd, 2014,  we reviewed the words we learned before the winter break. Instead of giving students the occupation in Chinese, I asked the students for the occupation they would like to learn. These were the words they gave me. Yup, these were the words that 6th period students gave to me. I asked students to give me some more common words on occupation. Well, obviously it's common for them not for me.

(hán)(jià) = winter break

(zhí)() = occupation

(diàn)(yǐng)(dǎo)(yǎn) = movie director

(diàn)(dòng)(yóu)()(shè)()(shī) = video game designer

(jié)(gòu)(gōng)(chéng)(shī) = structure engineer

(shēng)(huà)(gōng)(chéng)(shī) = biochemical engineer

(shēng)()(gōng)(chéng)(shī) = biomechanical engineer

元月二 & 三日 January 2 & 3 - 中文一 Chinese I

On January 2, 2014, we reviewed all the words we've learned.  We used TPR to review these words and PQA as well. At the last 15 minutes we played a Bingo game that students wrote 16 words in a 16 box sheet.
We first played one line as bingo, and then two lines, and the three lines, and the four lines. And then... the school bell rang and then the class was dismissed.
Below is the note that was taken by Emerson Colquitt, 4th period student.
